Shula Johnson
Senior Technical Officer
Shula has been employed for the past 9 years as a senior technical officer in the Department of Botany and Zoology at the University of Stellenbosch, where she is responsible for servicing the Behavioral Ecology and Vertebrate functional Groups. She Obtained a BSc Honors degree from the University of Cape Town in 1994, having majored in Botany and Zoology. Her thesis was entitled the Dominance hierarchy of Cryptomys Hottentotus hottentotus. Prior to the University of Stellenbosch, she worked at the University of Cape Town, where she was responsible for the management of the animal unit of the Human Biology Department. She is also responsible for technical and administrative support to several undergraduate Biodiversity and Ecology modules in the department.
Shula thoroughly enjoys working with people and this stands her in good stead as she is constantly interacting with students and researchers. When she’s not trying to solve some or other student’s crisis, she loves spending time with her 2 very busy teenage boys or enjoying a motorcycle ride around the peninsula.
